Beach Photography Can be Hazardous
Hazardous to your equipment that is! People love to take photos and with the technology of smart phones its making that easier than ever before, photos are being taken at just about any location possible. Taking photos at the beach is fun but can create problems for your camera equipment. Typically you are taking photos of people having fun and those pictures capture those memories for ever. If you are taking your DSLR camera to the beach to get higher quality, there are a few things that you should consider. The first is to consider not doing it because of the sand getting into just about every single nook of your camera. If you are careful, you can take your camera with, but you should always have it in your bag when you are not taking pictures with it. Other than sand, another danger could be the sun and the heat. This can affect things like the battery and the memory cards that you have with you.
That is why it is important to bring extra batteries and compact flash memory cards with you. The high heat from the sun can damage those cards when left unattended. That goes the same for the lithium batteries that many cameras require these days. When you get a compact flash memory card it usually comes with a case and that is what it should be stored in when not in use. Having extra memory cards is important because if you are in the heat and sun a card can become ruined and it is always nice to have a backup.
If you would run into a situation where your card gets wrecked, you can always use the backup card and continue the shoot like nothing ever happened.
